Unit 1: Atoms, Molecules, Ions, and Matter

In this first unit you will learn how to construct and use models for atoms, molecules, or ions that highlight the relative probable locations and energies of electrons. You will also use these models to explain atomic- or molecular-level phenomena.

You will also learn to construct and use models for substances consisting of atoms, ions, and molecules that are based on the attractions among charged particles and use these models to explain trends in macroscopic physical  properties such as melting points.
