Lawns
Introduction:
Many homeowners want a lush, green lawn. Even if you don’t have a lawn or have no desire to grow a lawn, you likely still see lawns in your neighborhood, where you work or where you recreate. This module will help you notice things about those lawns too. Healthy lawns are because of proper soil preparation, seed selection, care during establishment, and appropriate maintenance activities – including fertilizing, watering, and pest management.
You will notice there are several videos to watch but don’t panic! Most of them are very short! Under Supplemental Materials you will find additional videos about specific types of grasses. While these videos will be helpful to view, they are not required.
Objectives:
After completing the reading in the manual, online module, and class activities, you will:
- Describe the basic requirements for growing a lawn;
- Identify the proper cultural practices for turf establishment and maintenance under various environmental conditions.
