Transfer Credits
Students who completed graduate coursework outside the UW–Madison Department of Kinesiology may transfer up to 18 credits from a relevant master’s degree toward their doctoral program.
- Grades from transfer credits will not count towards the graduate career GPA.
- Transfer credits must be earned from institutions recognized by a U.S. Department of Education institutional accrediting agency or hold an equivalent international accreditation.
- The credits used toward a master’s degree may also be applied to a related doctoral degree. Credits earned ten or more years prior to admission to a master’s degree or doctoral degree are not allowed to satisfy requirements.
To request transfer credits:
-
Prepare a list of the courses you’d like to transfer, including a brief rationale for each.
- Obtain a letter of support from your faculty advisor.
- Include the syllabus for each course.
- Submit all materials to the Graduate Program Manager, who will forward them to the Graduate Studies Committee for review and approval.
