Appendix 12: Example of Customized Research Study Data Sharing Plan
DATA SHARING OVERVIEW
Purpose
The purpose of the data sharing plan is to ensure complete transparency and agreement on 1) the data requested by the coordination center and 2) how this data will be stored and compiled.
Statement on shared data
The coordination center will only use data elements which have been agreed upon as required and common measures. Any data that is shared with the coordination center and does not fit into this category will be promptly and permanently deleted from our files. All research team data will remain in Box and be available to the Research Managers to ensure transparency.
DATA SHARING INFORMATION & EXPECTATIONS
Data location and access
- Team Box folder: box.com/teamname
- Team members with access: Principal Investigator, Research Manager 1
- Survey dataset file format: CSV files
Research study expectations
- Upload data to Box folder according to agreed upon deadlines
- Be responsive to any questions about the data
- Keep information up to date across the tracking spreadsheet to ensure data accuracy
- Liaise with research team to ensure that all team members are comfortable with the data sharing plan
Coordination center expectations
- Update information across the tracking spreadsheet to ensure data management transparency
- Add new data to the single-study common measures dataset in a timely manner
- Be responsive to any questions and concerns regarding data requests and usage
