Concluding Remarks from the Editors

By Fátima Sancheznieto and Emily Utzerath

We hope this book, used alongside existing coordination center literature, serves as a valuable resource for those seeking to establish their own coordination centers, as well as a source of fresh insights for those already running them. As our team moves to close out the NRMN Coordination Center, we recognize that running a successful coordination center required bringing together appropriate expertise, funding support, and a research community that trusted in us. We remain incredibly humbled by and grateful for the support of our funders, our Steering Committee, and the remarkable group of individuals that made up the NRMN Phase II Research Community. Similarly, as editors, we are grateful to the wonderful team of researchers, including those who are no longer on the team or involved in the project, who brought their skill sets and minds together for running the NRMN Coordination Center.

Our last pieces of advice:

  • Funding agencies: funding a diverse team of experts to coordinate interdisciplinary research is well worth it.
  • Individuals running coordination centers: give as much importance to establishing trust and building community as you give to synergizing the research of your research teams.
