26 Tutoring Mission
- To provide personalized writing, reading, and learning support and educational encouragement for students in a small group setting.
- To introduce students to additional voices and viewpoints, while also giving them an intimate environment to express their concerns.
- To build and strengthen community within the class.
- To increase understanding and support outside the prison walls for those who are incarcerated.
- To reinforce students’ weekly instruction.
“Students are engaged in all tutoring discussions. Some of them told their personal struggles and gave their peers a chance to address it. In one of my classes, students give feedback even outside the sessions. Students seem to enjoy being in the session and appreciate our work.”
