Lesson 2: Наследство политических репрессий
Lesson Description:
If this is the first time you are using a RAILS lesson, we recommend that you take a look at the page About the lessons to make sure that you understand how some features of the lessons work.
This is the second lesson based on an interview with Kazakh artist and activist Aigerim Kapar. You will watch three video clips and complete exercises based on those clips. This lesson consists of the following sections: Введение, Политические репрессии в Казахстане, История кочевников, Идентичность казахов, and Заключение.
You can find the Помощник and Словарь at the end of the lesson for easy reference, but they are also available in the lesson in places where you are most likely to need them.
Please be aware that this lesson deals with some difficult topics, including political repression and famine.
What You Will Learn:
In this lesson, you will learn about the famine in Ukraine and Kazakhstan, about the exhibit “Воспоминания. Диалоги памяти”, about some environmental problems in Kazakhstan, about nomadic life in Kazakhstan and yurts, about the “friendship of peoples” in the Soviet Union and the effect of language policy on Kazakh identity, and about the deportations of various ethnic groups to Kazakhstan and other places.
