Graduate Study Options for SoHE Students
There are many career pathways for SoHE students, and the human ecology background is a great perspective to bring to many industries for improving the human experience and solving problems.

Advanced Degrees Applicable to Multiple Majors:MBA: A Master’s in Business Administration can be a valuable degree for folks wanting to pursue leadership roles in business and nonprofit settings. Some programs have general MBAs or allow for more specialization (for example: marketing, human resources, investment banking). Most MBA programs want to see applicants come in with some work experience, so jumping straight from from undergrad to MBA is not very common. JD: Law school (to become Juris Doctor) is a pathway of interest for students in different SoHE majors, from folks interested in family law to business or nonprofit law to estate planning to policy and advocacy. The Center for Pre-Law Advising at UW-Madison is an excellent resource for students and alums interested in pursuing law school. And law programs look for students from a wide range of educational backgrounds – so no matter your major, law school could be a possibility for you. MSW: A Master of Social Work can be a versatile degree for working directly with people or in advocacy/policy spaces. Programs may offer different pathways to for focus areas or to set students up for licensing as certain types of social workers (example focus areas: mental health, health school social work, child and family welfare, policy). |
