G2.4 Admission from the MA into the PhD Program in Spanish

To be eligible for admission into the PhD program in Spanish, all students must complete an MA in Spanish either at UW-Madison or in an equivalent program, and they must achieve a graduate GPA of at least 3.40 on a four-point scale in their Spanish MA coursework. To pass directly from one of UW-Madison’s Spanish MA programs into the corresponding Spanish PhD program (literature or linguistics), students must complete all MA course requirements with the specified minimum GPA and also gain approval of a research portfolio submitted according to the guidelines provided in this handbook.
