G2.5 Admission from the MA into the PhD Program in Portuguese & Spanish

To be eligible for admission into the PhD program in Portuguese & Spanish, all students must complete an MA in Portuguese either at UW-Madison or in an equivalent program, and they must achieve a graduate GPA of at least 3.40 on a four-point scale in their Portuguese MA coursework. In order to pass directly from UW-Madison’s Portuguese MA program into the Portuguese PhD program, students must complete all MA course requirements with the specified minimum GPA and also gain approval of a research portfolio submitted according to the guidelines provided in section G5.5 of this handbook.
