G2.8 Proficiency in Oral and Written Spanish or Portuguese
Upon enrollment in our graduate programs, all students will take an examination for written proficiency in their primary language of study. An unsatisfactory performance in the written examination will require students to work with their advisors on a plan to remedy the deficiency. Incoming students who are not native speakers of their primary language of study (Spanish or Portuguese) will take an examination for oral proficiency. An unsatisfactory performance on the oral examination will require the student to take Spanish 320 Spanish Phonetics. However, Spanish 320 will not count as graduate credit.
