G3.3 Time Limits for Completion of Requirements

MA students are expected to complete their degree requirements in no more than four semesters.

PhD students must complete their language requirements before taking their preliminary examinations. The preliminary examinations should normally be completed by the end of the eighth semester of graduate study. The latest students may complete the preliminary examination is in either August or January, immediately before their ninth semester of graduate study. PhD students must fulfill their minor requirement before submitting and defending their dissertations.

Students are expected to complete the PhD dissertation within five years of the date of their PhD preliminary examinations.
