G3.6 Minimum Graduate GPA and Probation
Students must maintain a 3.00 average each semester. A grade of C is not considered satisfactory and must be offset by a grade of A in another course. A grade of BC is also not considered satisfactory and must be offset by a grade of A or AB in another course.
Students who fail to maintain a 3.00 grade average will be placed on probation. A student who continues on probation for two consecutive semesters may be dropped from the program. The Executive Committee will inform probationary students in advance of any deliberations regarding discontinuation so that the students may submit any material in their favor. PhD students on probation will not be allowed to take preliminary exams.
