On the next two pages, you will learn some things about Lake Issyk-Kul, one of Kyrgyzstan’s most important natural features.

Noun Suffixes -ость / -ота / -ина. Learn about the noun suffixes and then practice forming nouns from adjectives.
In Russian, the suffixes –ость, –ота, and –ина often serve to form an abstract noun that is related to a similar adjective. You might already know some of these:
честный – честность (honest, honesty)
добрый – доброта (kind, kindness)
длинный – длина (long, length)
Note that words that have -ок- usually drop it (for example: высокий, широкий, глубокий).
