In Russian, sometimes people pronounce the words for Kyrgyz like “кыргыз / кыргызка / кыргызы / кыргызский”, and sometimes people pronounce them like “киргиз / киргизка / киргизы / киргизский”. Listen to the following sentences and decide which you hear.

Use the internet to help you find out what caused some of the population trends in Kyrgyzstan from 1926-2024. When and why did the Kyrgyz population rise and fall? When and why did the percentage of Russians rise and fall? Another ethnic group that had a small but significant population in Kyrgyzstan was Germans, and it is another group that is interesting historically. Why were there groups of Germans living in Kyrgyzstan (they made up over 2% of the population at one point)? When and why did they come to Kyrgyzstan? When and why did they leave?
