In this exercise, you will read an adapted excerpt from an article from Новая газета. First, complete the vocabulary building exercise on the first slide. Then read the excerpts from the text on each of the slides and complete the short exercises on each page.

Reflection:

Can you think of instances in your culture when names or other points of language have changed because of political considerations? When it happens, how do you make decisions about which versions of the language you will use? How does this affect your decision making about what terms you will use when you speak Russian?
