Editing Pressbooks

This Active Teaching Guide is built on the Pressbooks Platform.  The platfrom contains both the front-facing e-book and the back-end editing tools.  Like many applications, the editing tools do have a bit of a learning curve.  However, the platform is flexible and does not require html coding for the most part.

Each instance of Pressbooks maybe a little different depending on the hosting entity.  So, UW-Madison’s instance may include some features that another instance may not and vice versa.  While not specific to UW-Madison’s instance, The Pressbooks User Guide is a great place to start to learn how to navigate the editing tools.  Part III: Making the book is a great place to start.

Pressbooks has also created a series of short “how-to” videos.  The North Lauderdale Library has provided a currated YouTube playlist that is quite helpful.   Videos 10-13, embedded below, will be the most relevant for editing this Active Teaching Guide.
