Teaching Communications-B Courses

Introduction

Communications–B courses fulfill the second part of UW-Madison’s two-part Communication requirement, which is intended to enhance students’ literacy and research skills within specific academic disciplines. Because what constitutes effective research and communication varies across disciplines and professions, some Comm–B course look very different from others. However, all Comm-B courses have the same general education requirements. In what follows, we will explain the comm-B requirement and offer some tips for teaching comm-B courses. If you have questions about a course you are proposing or hope to propose, contact Karen Evans-Romaine, Comm-B Faculty Liaison at evansromaine@wisc.edu or Emily Hall, director of Writing Across the Curriculum (ebhall@wisc.edu).
