What You Should Do Next:

1. In this lesson, Aleksandr Asmolov discusses the major challenges and problems in education in Russia today. In your opinion, what are the major challenges facing educators in the United States? How are they similar, or different, to those described by Asmolov? Write a short essay in Russian addressing these two questions.

2. Learn more about one of the topics that you encountered in the RAILS lessons and write a research paper about it or give a class presentation about it, using at least three Russian-language sources.

3. Select one of the topics from the RAILS lessons that you found compelling and worth further exploring from the perspective of Russians today. Work with your instructor to formulate a list of interview questions and to identify a native speaker to interview. Conduct the interview in person, online, or over the phone. Take notes as you listen to the interview subject’s answers. Then, summarize the answers and submit them to your instructor.
