15 Foundations to Scientific Oral Presentations

Foundations to Scientific Oral Presentations

Scientific presentations are another way to communicate about your experiment to an audience. Presentations combine the visual aspects also utilized in posters into a Powerpoint presentation. The use of graphics, coupled with an oral narrative, helps to explain your experiment using the Big Four elements.

The following are some tips for Scientific Oral Presentations:

  • Pay attention to what is shown on each slide! Do the graphics make sense?
  • What is said by each speaker accompanying the slide? Can you utilize transitions in the visuals or the text when speaking to ease the audience into what you’re explaining?
  • How do the presentation mechanisms? Are they contributing to the presentation, or detracting from it?
