The irregular verb venire (to come)

Venire (to come) is another common irregular verb.

Present tense:

vengo          veniamo

vieni            venite

viene           vengono

 

Past absolute:

venni          venimmo

venisti        veniste

venne          vennero

 

Future:

verrò          verremo

verrai         verrete

verrà          verranno

 

Past participle: venuto

 

Conjugated like venire are: divenire (to become), intervenire (to intervene), svenire (to swoon), convenire (to suit, to be fitting; to meet, to gather; to agree), and avvenire (to happen). The latter is an impersonal verb, used only in the third person singular. The most common form of it is avvenne (it happened).

 

Reminder: venire is sometimes used as auxiliary in forming the passive voice.
