Jug of All Nations

Is this a jug or is this a wedding cake?  If you had to look twice, you are not alone.  This colossal object was not made for daily use, but for boasting. This three-tiered jug decorated with insignia of nineteen participating nations was displayed at the Paris Exhibition in 1855, celebrating the legacy of the Crystal Palace’s Great Exhibition of 1851.  While it might not function well as a liquid container, this Jug of All Nations speaks for the technology behind its creation and displays Britain’s’ worldly knowledge and superior innovation of ceramics.
