Robert Burns is a world-renowned poet that lived in Scotland during the 18th century. Burns’ poems commented on farm life and regional experience, class distinctions, and religious practices in Scotland. As a poet he wrote in the Scots language, as well as in English, reaching a broad audience in England. Robert Burns and his poems were popular during the mid 1800’s, and he is regarded as the National Poet of Scotland.
