CBFE Annual Review Process & Metrics
Review Process
Students will be reviewed by faculty pairs, including one faculty from the CBFE Graduate Program Committee, during a 20-minute review meeting in the spring. The results of this meeting are then emailed to the student, their advisor, and the GPC chair before the end of the faculty contract in mid-May.
This evaluation is based on data collected directly from students from the ARGS process, as well as administrative data. Students are required to track their own metrics in terms of presentations, paper submissions and other work to report. Students may also request evaluations of their performance as teaching assistants for each semester in which they TA or serve as a lecturer. All students must complete the UW Human Subjects on-line training course (CITI) and maintain an ongoing certification of completion for their entire time in the program.
Any student who is failing to make progress will meet with the CBFE Graduate Committee. Students may appeal their status providing evidence of any special circumstances to the CBFE Graduate Committee, and then the full Consumer Science department. Students may further appeal to the SoHE Graduate Committee, in writing, if they feel the Departmental review is inadequate.
