HDFS Credit Requirement

The Ph.D. in Human Ecology: HDFS requires a minimum of 51 credits of graduate study. A detailed breakdown of courses that meet these requirements is provided in the MS/Ph.D. and Ph.D. course requirements checklist. Students that have already earned the MS prior to arrival at UW-Madison will proceed directly to the Ph.D. degree. Students that have not already earned an MS degree will begin by completing the MS in Human Ecology before continuing onto the Ph.D.
