Lesson 9: Жизнь за школьным порогом

schoolchildrenLesson Description:

If this is the first time you are using a RAILS lesson, we recommend that you take a look at the page About the lessons to make sure that you understand how some features of the lessons work.

This is the last lesson in a series of nine lessons based on films by Marina Goldovskaya. It is also the last of four lessons based on the documentary film «Дети Ивана Кузьмича». The lesson consists of five parts: Война, Песня Сольвейг, Разведчик, На Аляске, and Заключение.

In this lesson you will watch four clips from the film, read texts that give you important background information, and summarize what you have learned in this series of lessons.

You can find the Помощник and Словарь at the end of the lesson for easy reference, but they are also available in the lesson in places where you are most likely to need them.

What You Will Learn:

In this lesson, you will learn how the Great Patriotic War changed the lives of Soviet people and, especially, the lives of the students and teachers of school 110.

You will learn about the different directions that the students’ lives took after the war. You will work closely with new vocabulary, practice using parenthetical phrases, try your hand at making captions for images, and work on your final project for this series of lessons.

This lesson is based on the film «Дети Ивана Кузьмича». Use of excerpts from the films Solovky Power and Children of Ivan Kuzmich in the RAILS lessons is courtesy of Goldfilms.
