Lab 6: Mutant Exploration
Lab 6 Objectives
This week you will explore your assigned HCAII mutation by:
- Working through the site-directed mutagenesis process used to create the mutant
- Using alignment software to determine the sequence conservation at your amino acid residue of interest
- Creating clear and informative images of your mutation using PyMOL
- Developing a hypothesis for the phenotype of your mutation
You and your new official lab partner will work together this week to begin thinking critically about your mutation! After working together, you will present your figure and hypothesis to some classmates and a TA. You will have the chance to discuss each figure and hypothesis, receive feedback on your work, and provide feedback to your classmates.
