A Yoruba Lesson (by Ajara Jagne)

This is a lesson inspired by workbook acvtities in the University of Ibadan textbook and in the spirit of the Yoruba lessons with Aderonke Youtube channel of making Yoruba more learnable. The activity itself based on an instagram video from the naijanation channel to help you finesse everyday Yoruba words into your vocabulary that you may not already use. I encountered the video earlier this week and decided to use it as a base to create a lesson that I find particularly useful and exciting. With these resources instagram, Yoruba lessons with Aderonke, and the University of Ibadan textbook, learners can use these resources to create self activities like such that can manifest as lessons for an all round comprehension (Writing, listening, speaking and writing).. You can put together the most useful phrases, words, and ideas then test yourself on your Yoruba knowledge and more specifically use the structure of the certain textbook activities as well as the repetition in Aderonke’s video to create lessons for yourself. This activity below kind of works as a fill in the blank in Yoruba and in English.

The lesson itself comprises of 4 parts:

Part 1) Watch and listen to this instagram video (https://www.instagram.com/reel/DGKkzjJs_PI/?igsh=MW1zMWF2YmR6MnFwdA==)

Part 2) Do the activity below

Part 3) Use each of the Yoruba words in a sentence

Part 4) Make a 5-sentence paragraph using 5 words
