Xhosa: Numbers + Money and Days of the Week

The days of the week in Xhosa changed their meaning after European colonization and westernization.  Europeans brought along their concept of working days. As a consequence the days of the week in Xhosa reflect the working days of the week. for example, ngoLwesibini, means the second working day- Tuesday, ngoLwesine, is the third working day or Wednesday. Sunday is called the “going to church day. Church is icawa in Xhosa; thus, ngeCawa, means Sunday. (going to church day)
