Practice – High Tones in Lingala

Now that I have introduced you to the two main tones in Lingala. Now let’s practice the high tone in Lingala!

One way that I try to practice Lingala high tones is by singing the nursery rhyme “Frère Jacques” in Lingala. Using lyrics found on Mama Lisa’s World as shown below:

To practice, I sing the rhyme multiple times and also try miming it. I can’t whistle it yet because it is hard and I am not a good whistler. Please bear with me as it is still work in progress and I cannot sing to save my life but here are some samples of:
