Hausa

Questions

Questions in Hausa generally indicate whether you are speaking to/about an individual male, an individual female, or multiple people. For that reason there are three ways to form any given question.

Yaushe? (When?)

Example

Yaushe ka zo?                  When did you come? (male)

Yaushe kika zo?               When did you come? (female)

Yaushe kuka zo?              When did you come? (multiple people)

As you can see, each version is rather similar, except for the addition of ki or ku when speaking to/about a female or more than one person, respectively.

Try forming a ‘when’ question!
