Kpelle-Health and Sickness

With it being the end of semester, high stress and a lot of people getting sick, I decided to do a short lesson on health.

So some basic vocabulary regarding health and sickness:

Body Parts:

Ngoo-leg

Nyin-tooth

Nyee- arm

Nei-eye

Zua-nose

Ngoi-stomach

Woli-ear

La-mouth

La-gbo-lip

Koo-leg

Nzama-back

Puru-intestine

Solii-hurting

KolE-sick

To ask someone if they are sick you say: ba KolEi?-Are you sick?

You can then answer with Yes-ooee or No-Kpao, and if you are sick you can simply say _____(body part) a solii. For example-Nzama a solii= “My back is hurting.” Or “Nun a solii” is My head hurts or I have a headache.
