  • Talk about what you eat and do not eat, what you ate yesterday and what you will eat for dinner today.

 

Step 4: With a partner, simulate the dialogues below.

Dialogue 1

Speaker 1:  Kifungua kinywa chako ni nini?

Speaker 2: Kifungua kinywa changu ni mkate. Na wewe je?

Speaker 1: Nina soseji na mayai ya kukaanga

Speaker 2: Una nini chakula mchana?

Speaker 1: nina wali wa kukaanga

Speaker 2: una kula na nani chakula cha mchana

Speaker 1: Ninakula chakula cha mchana na marafiki

 

Note that kukaanga is fried- mayai ya kukaanga fried eggs, wali wa kukaanga- fried rice

 

Dialogue 2

Conversation between the waiter (Muhudumu) and Toyin at the restaurant

Waiter: Karibu sana

Toyin: Asante, Habari za asubuhi?

Waiter: Njema

Toyin: Ninataka chai. Kuna chai na nani?

Waiter: Kuna chai na mkate, chapati, maandazi na vitumbua

Toyin: Bei gani?

Waiter: Chai ya rangi shilingi mia nane, chai ya maziwa shilingi elfu moja, chapati shilingi mia mbili, anadazi shilingi mia moja

Toyin: Ninataka chai na chapati

Baada ya kunywa chai

Toyin: Jumla ni shilinhi ngapi?

Waiter: Chai ya maziwa shilingi elfu moja, chapati ni shilingi mia mbili. Jumla ni shilingi elfu moja na mia mbili

Toyin: Chukua pesa

Waiter: Chukua chenji

Toyin: Asante, kwaheri

Waiter: Karibu tena
